Order in the Court!

Republicans give Obama judicial nominee cool reception by Bill Mears April 17,2010 http://www.cnn.com/2010/POLITICS/04/16/liu.hearings/index.html

Straight from the Document:

Article Three-Section One: "The judicial Power of the United States, shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behavior, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office."

Connection:

On Friday April 16, 2010 the Senate Republicans offered a cool reception to a judicial nominee. Both parties reviewed the qualifications of Goodwin Liu. The college professor would be the only Asian-American on the appeals court. On the questionnaire given to the nominee on his background he had omitted 117 items. The Republicans and other conservatives now question his qualifications, thinking maybe he is purposely holding out on information on his background. Democrats are defending Liu saying that they were "unfairly characterizing his words and qualifications."

1 comment:

  1. So what do you think? Is he qualified? Plus--another connection--Article II--power of appointment for the president, no?
